Morning sketches over tea.
Got my hands on issue two a whole day early! Great to see my work in print and on shelves in The UK! Thanks @storytimemag!
Had a few weeks of limited access to my computer to paint and ended up starting a watercolour sketchbook! Seemed like a good use for my dusty and neglected instagram account!
Agh! Sorry for two Storytime Posts so close together, but they just released a preview the full wrap around cover without the branding! I would have put them in the same post had I known.
*be sure to click to enlarge*
If you want to look at some of the other amazing art in the book, there is a little preview right here: http://www.storytimemagazine.com/issues/
Getting pretty excited to get my hands on Issue 2 of Storytime Magazine! Here is a cheeky snap of my cover rolling off the presses. Seeing my work in print never gets old!
Issue two is available form the 15th of October, and if anyone sees some of these in the wild, please do take a pic and send it my way with a rough location. I know Storytime is sold internationally, would love to get a picture from as many different places as possible!
More sketch pages/paints soon!
p.s. thank you for all the kind comments on my handwriting! It is a very real and genuine concern of mine, it’s good to know it doesn’t look all that bad to others!
Autumn is here!
In other news, After a decade of almost exclusively typing my already childlike handwriting has devolved to a simian like level of legibility. I think my written word might actually be the missing link between cave painting and modern penmanship.
I need a decent hand writing font…
It’s been a while!
I have been traveling for the last few months and decided moving house a few days after returning home would be a fantastic idea… turns out it wasn’t. Either way, I have been largely without a solid workspace/ internet connection for a fortnight which has been an absolute killer for productivity.
I hope to have some new painting to show soon, but in the mean time here are a few random sketch pages from the last few weeks! Sorry again for the long absence!

There is so much fire in this book, you guys. Better have an extinguisher at hand to be safe. I worry about your safety.
Yay! It’s out!
Written by Chris (troisenator.tumblr.com/) while the cover and much of the interior was illustrated by myself! If anyone who happens to follow me does pick up a copy, let me know how it looks! I’m yet to see it in person and won’t be able to pick up a copy for another couple weeks.
Earlier today I received a little preview for the cover I’ve painted for a new children’s magazine: “Storytime”. This project has been fantastic to be involved with, the team over at Luma are an absolute delight and are trying to do something really quite special.
You can see some glimpses of the work going into these books here:
I couldn’t recommend having a look highly enough. In all honestly I feel very much out of place, the caliber or the artists Luma have pulled together on this project is a little overwhelming, well worth having a dig through the preview site to see whats coming up in the first few issues.
I plan to post a little process gif of the cover I have done for issue 2 (It’s actually a wrap around, but the back hasn’t been posted yet so I can’t show it) as soon as I can cobble something together.
More updates soon!
I have to apologize, It’s been a very long while between posts. I am currently traveling, visiting my Wife’s family back in the States for the summer and have had limited access to a computer for a while. I have plenty of new sketch pages to share and some tidbits of news which I hope to have up by the end of the week, but in the mean time…
Ben is one of the most insanely talented blokes I am lucky enough to know and I couldn’t be more flattered to get a copy of his amazing debut issue of "Double +" including a kick ass illustration drawn by Ben in less than five minuets while eating a vegan cookie outside a closed coffee shop in Louisville.
If you haven’t seen his work before, check it out (and if you are going to SPX make a point of stopping by his booth and asking to see his pocket sketchbook, it’s jaw dropping).
I promise I’ll have some art updates soon,
All the best,
My friend Alex is back in town and I got to nerd out and talk comics and process stuff. Here’s a parting gift.
