Another fish design. I wasn’t happy with the first one as it was too ordinary for it’s purpose. In the story these are intended for, the fish start out as fallen Autumn leaves, and I really wanted to work that concept into the design with out going over the top.
Aside from the storytelling, this silhouette is much more interesting and distinctive and I think makes for a stronger design in general.
Another part of this ever illusive personal project of mine. I will try and post more design stuff since I can’t post anything finished when I can.
A rare re-blog, but Bills nailed this. Also, I want to state that he knows how much I suck at drawing fan art/ super hero’s/buff dudes so thanks Mike. Thanks. A. Lot. Mine will be up later this week.

The theme this week is of course going to be THE AVENGERS.
Yet another long gap in posts to apologize for… sigh. There is a good reason I promise, I just can’t say much/anything about it at the moment.
So in order to try and keep some regular art posts happening, and also to publicly humiliate myself on a regular basis, Mike Bills ( http://michaelbills.tumblr.com/ ) and myself have started a joint blog where we both take turns coming up with a subject and both post our results. Yes I know he is going to kick my ass every time, but it should still be fun.
We are calling it http://characterscraps.tumblr.com/ and while it’s still very early days (well, day really) I hope you guys will tag along for the ride.
In other art related news, The Future is happening! The Kickstarter ( http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1195904626/louisville-cartoonist-society-the-future ) crossed the $2000 mark a few days ago, and I would like to thank everyone for their support and all those re-blogs.
Thanks!
Alright, shameless plug time.
I posted this image at the end of last year with the promise of an update some time in the new year. Well it’s been a little longer than expected, but I can finally let you know whats going on with it.
The cover is for the next comic anthology published by the Louisville Cartoonists Society ( http://www.louisvillecartoonistsociety.com/) entitled “The Future”. The LCS are a great group of lads and lasses, guys and gals, men and/or woman who make really pretty great comics and strive to publish as many books as possible each year. This time with the Future Anthology they are trying to make things a little easier on the members by running a kickstarter to help subsidize the cost of printing the book.
If that sounds like somthing you would be interested in supporting, feel free to check out the Kickstarter page here:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1195904626/louisville-cartoonist-society-the-future
and check out what the guys have to offer.
Thanks for looking!
Alex.
Another snippit of another painting.
Hey all,
It’s been a while since I posted any new work, I have been busy working on stuff I can’t really show yet, but thought I would drop a sneak peek of what I have been doing just so my tumblr doesn’t get too lonely.
See you around!
Alex.
Alright, so I mentioned these a while ago, but figured I would post this now that these are officially out there, and since some people apparently like them *cough* http://www.comicsalliance.com/2012/03/02/best-comic-book-covers-ever-this-month-february-2012/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter *cough* I thought It couldn’t hurt to have some decent quality images of these out there.
Big thanks to the guys at Disney Press for being crazy enough for giving me a shot at these.
On a side note, I totally caved and got my self a PSVita. My friends list is pretty much a ghost town, so if anyone feels like a round of hotshots golf or whatever feel free to add me using the imaginatively named psn: alexinatree
Sorry for the long gap in posts. Lots going on at the moment and it’s tough to find time for personal work. I am working away from home for the next few weeks so I can’t spend valentines day with my wife. To try and make up for it, I went all soppy artists and painted a card for my significantly better half.
I will try and post more frequently over the next few weeks, sorry again for the break!
